Abstract Scope |
Advanced high-strength steel(AHSS), known for its excellent combination of strength and ductility, has a limitation of inferior edge-formability. Accordingly, the edge-formability represented by hole expansion ratio(HER), became a crucial consideration in application of AHSS to automotive parts. In this study, we propose a novel approach to correlate microstructure to HER. HER is influenced by material's intrinsic edge-formability and damage accumulated during hole-punching. Therefore, we evaluated HER by separating two indicators. Firstly, by processing hole through electrical discharge machining, we excluded damage during hole-punching. The HER in this case is named HER0. Next, we quantified punching damage through the difference between HER and HER0. By understanding microstructural effects on each case, we could accurately understand HER from a microstructure perspective. We confirmed that there is a strong correlation between uniaxial tensile properties and HER0 through artificial neural network technique and obtained the relationship between shear properties and punching damage. |
