Abstract Scope |
Because electrification is not practical for all applications, hydrogen is being seriously investigated as a carbon-free alternative fuel for industry. Questions about the feasibility of hydrogen as a replacement for the fossil fuels currently being used have followed. For a given gross energy input, will the same amount of heat be transferred to product given hydrogen’s lower luminosity when burned? How about NOX emissions, will they increase and put furnaces out of compliance?
Bloom intends to highlight the results of our research on the practicality of using hydrogen as an industrial combustion fuel. The data we share will come from physical testing performed in our regenerative R&D test furnace using 100% hydrogen, plus considerations for various NG+H2 blends. Our goal being to outline the logical next steps with a focus on minimizing risk to producer(s) who plan to take a leading role in the future of low-carbon combustion. |
