Abstract Scope |
Plasticity of magnesium alloys is controlled by the activation of different deformation systems occurring simultaneously. In-situ synchrotron radiation and acoustic emission are valuable tools to understand the competition of dislocations slip and twinning systems. This article explores the use of both techniques in combination to understand two phenomena, the reverse stress-compression asymmetry in Mg-Zn-Y alloys reinforced with LPSO phase and the dynamic strain aging phenomenon at intermediate temperatures in binary Mg-Rare Earth alloys (Y,Gd). |
