Abstract Scope |
China’s strategic goal of “Dual-Carbon” has put forward the requirements of “Dual control of both energy consumption and intensity” for the aluminum smelting industry. Under these circumstances, Shenyang Aluminum and Magnesium Engineering and Research Institute Co., Ltd (SAMI) has carried out a series of technical research and upgrading projects since 2015. In 2022, Laibin Guangtou Yinhai Aluminum Co.,Ltd implemented a upgrading project on their 330 kA potline using SAMI's proprietary technology. This project involved adopting various technical strategies from SAMI such as Networked Self-equalizing Busbar Technology(NSBT), New Conceptual Cathode Technology(NCCT), “Long Healthy Life” potlining design, etc. The current of this potline was increased to 350 kA, and energy consumption of liquid primary aluminum was reduced to 12,520 kWh/t-Al from 13,182 kWh/t-Al. These technologies offer strong technical support for the existing aluminum smelters to upgrade its current low-amperage reduction cells, leading to lower carbon emission. |
