Modelling sheet forming processes requires besides accurate material models also accurate characterization of the material. The characterization at large plastic strains is essential for forming applications. In this lecture, recent methodologies to measure flow curves of sheet metals at large strains including anisotropic hardening and to identify parameters for damage models are presented. The advancement of the in-plane torsion test for measuring the flow curves of very thin sheets is presented. To measure flow curves including the cross-hardening effect is established by the combination of bulge tests and in-plane torsion tests delivering a perfect orthogonal loading path change at large plastic strain. Extruding sheets allows for the first time the measurement of flow stresses under uniaxial elongation without necking up to true strains of 1.6. Inverse identification of parameters for damage models using void density measurements instead of classical force-displacement curves improves the quantitative prediction of damage by order of magnitudes. |
