Abstract Scope |
In this talk we will present the most recent results from our multi-physics modeling framework for the laser powder bed fusion process. Specifically, we will first introduce our computational physics simulations to understand the effects of environmental gas, including its chemical composition and pressure level, on metal evaporation kinetics, keyhole and plume behavior, and particle spattering. We will then introduce our computational materials simulation to understand the grain texture evolution during the multi-pass and multi-layer prints with different scanning patterns. The talk will be concluded with a discussion of challenges, opportunities, and future work. |
