Abstract Scope |
Latent heat storages (LHS) are expected to improve the ability to regulate the amount of electricity supplied by thermal power generation and eutectic alloys are especially promising because of their large heat storage density and high thermal conductivity. However, no definitive eutectic alloy LHS with a melting temperature in the vicinity of 330 ℃, 400 ℃ and 500 ℃ has yet been found. To search for alloys with these eutectic temperatures, some elements are added to Zn-Al-Mg eutectic alloy for 330 ℃, Mg-Al for 400 ℃ and Al-Si for 500 ℃. Eutectic compositions were determined by comparing DTA curves of the samples with different compositions starting from the composition obtained from the EDS analysis for eutectic region. Eutectic temperatures were measured by DTA and heat of fusions were measured by DSC. Results showed the thermodynamic properties of those alloys, and that they are promising choices as LHS materials. |
