Abstract Scope |
Hallow components from tubes of Austenitic stainless steels find applications in automobile industry, particularly for exhaust systems. Forming limits of tube not only provides information about safe working loads but also ensure component production. Experimental determination of forming limit is laborious and expensive as it takes lot of time and resources like material and machines. Hence finite element based simulations can be used to predicted the forming limits. In the present work forming limits of tubes of Austenitic stainless steel tubes (AISI304) were predicted with finite element based simulation using PAMPSTAMP 2G solver for straight tube(seamless tube) and weld tube(seam tube) and compared the effect of weld line on the formability of tubes . It was found that weld line has significant effect on formability of tubes. That is weld line has lowered the formability of weld tube by 15% compared to seamless tube. |
