Abstract Scope |
In railway vehicles, axle bearings are important components that help the wheels operate normally. In order to detect abnormalities in axle bearings, there is a method to check the temperature around the axle box that surrounds the bearings. In this study, a method to monitor and manage the temperature of the axle bearing of a railway vehicle by applying infrared thermography technology was proposed. First, a technology that can constantly monitor the temperature around the axlebox using an infrared camera was developed. A temperature monitoring module and operating software were developed and tested at the laboratory level. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed system, it was installed at an actual train station and tested on various types of railway vehicles. According to the test results, it was verified that the developed system can constantly measure and manage the temperature of the axle box of a railway vehicle. |
