Abstract Scope |
Ti3C2Tx MXene is a two-dimensional (2D), solution processable, high aspect ratio, high temperature ceramic material with reported stiffness (333 GPa) being highest among solution processable 2D materials. MXene transforms to non-stoichiometric, cubic TiCy at temperatures above 1200 ºC. Addition of alkali salts such as LiCl to MXene solutions have shown improvement in room temperature stability, and enhancement of electrochemical properties. But what role do these alkaline and alkaline earth metal salts play towards the MXene’s phase behavior at elevated temperatures? In this study, we explore the affect of these ionic salts towards MXenes’ stability, high temperature behavior and grain growth upto 2000 C. |
