Abstract Scope |
Based on the metallurgical process and slag theory, this work analyzed the structural and compositional characteristics of the slag layer of the insertion tube during the RH refining process of high carbon steel by the analytical test methods of XRF, XRD, SEM and EDS. The slag-sticking behavior of the insertion tube and the slag-sticking mechanism were studied. The results show that the slag-sticking is mainly generated by the chemical reaction between the high viscosity and high melting point refining slag and the castable material on the insertion tube, and then adheres to the insertion tube and grows up continuously, and because of the influence of the alternating temperature changes during the refining process, the “viscous bonding” and “precipitation bonding” occurred continuously. The mechanism analysis and experimental research of slag formation provide theoretical support for improving the behavior of slag sticking in the insertion tube during RH refining of high-carbon steel. |
