Abstract Scope |
The Next Generation Materials and Processes (NGMP) program of the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sponsors Research, Development, and Demonstration (RD&D) projects across a broad range of energy-related technologies. The Harsh Environment Materials (HEM) portfolio focuses on high-performance materials engineered for demanding service applications relevant to all forms of energy production, storage, and utilization. This presentation will examine recent and existing AMMTO-funded projects under that umbrella involving monolithic ceramics and ceramic composites, as well as showcase where and how these materials fit into AMMTO’s HEM roadmap for possible future investments, contingent upon congressional direction and the administration’s energy policies and priorities. The building of the roadmap, its strategic goals and objectives, and the high-impact opportunities and technology development pathways that have been identified through extensive stakeholder engagement activities will be introduced. |
