Abstract Scope |
In recent years, hot stamping process has been the dominant manufacturing method for parts requiring high strength and high formability. However, the majority of the parts are still produced by cold stamping since hot stamped parts martensitic and have limited ductility. In this study employing flash annealing to hot stamping was studied using a new alloy (0.24C-4.24Mn-1.0Si). Baehr dilatometer is used to examine the transformation behavior of martensite for different annealing time and temperature. It was seen that flash annealing temperature and time is responsible for the volume fraction of austenite and martensite. Gleeble Thermo Mechanical Simulator is employed to reveal mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. Heat treatment is applied by induction heating and mechanical properties are revealed. Microstructural characterization is carried out by using SEM and XRD. It was concluded that this process and alloy may be used both in cold forming and hot forming operations. |
