Abstract Scope |
Titanium alloys incorporating twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) and transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) has been the subject of research due to their ability to work harden. However, there is a lack of computational models that are able to predict accurately whether TWIP/TRIP will occur for a given composition. While methods such as the Bo/Md method exist, they function more as approximate guides. Therefore, to find novel compositions with the ability to undergo TWIP and/or TRIP, physical testing must be done. It would be beneficial to have a higher throughput method to be able to test many compositions in a short amount of time. Using gradient techniques and mechanically deforming them many compositions can be tested. The results of these experiments will be discussed in this talk. |
