Abstract Scope |
The use of variable magnetic force (VMF) motors is being promoted as it can help in maintaining high efficiency and high power for a wide range of motor speed [1]. For this purpose, low-coercivity (0.125-0.625 T) easily magnetizable magnets with flat first-order reversal curves (FORCs) are required. The Sm2Co17-based magnets are commercially used for this purpose. A recent study demonstrated the Nd-Fe-B-based hot-deformed magnets as a candidate for this application [2]. However, the FORC flatness and magnetizing field needs to be further improved for higher efficiency of these magnets. In this work, we have achieved an excellent combination of magnetic properties in grain boundary engineered (Nd,LRE)-Fe-B hot-deformed magnets, and studied the microstructural contributions to the properties. |
