Abstract Scope |
In this work, a new fully-explicit stress integration method is proposed. The stress tensor is directly integrated without an iterative root-finding process such as the Newton-Raphson method. The return mapping process for stress integration is avoided by introducing a direct calculation of a positive definite effective plastic strain increment. Furthermore, the uncertainty of the yield condition fulfillment in a fully-explicit stress update method is resolved by the introduced stress projection technique. The stress projection leads to the unconditional satisfaction of the yield condition and consistency condition. Thereby, it is possible to get a highly efficient finite element simulation. The proposed method is validated through strain hardening and material anisotropic predictions in a variety of strain increment levels. Finally, the numerical robustness, accuracy, and computational speed are assessed through cup drawing finite element simulation using an anisotropic material. |
