Abstract Scope |
Super pastes can be used to replace cast iron, reduce horizontal currents and cathode voltage drops, and protect copper as well. The electrical resistivities of unbaked super pastes and the rodding voltage drops in industrial cathode blocks are measured. The electrical resistivity changes with temperature up to 950℃ of baked super pastes are also measured. Various combinations of super pastes, copper plates and steel bars are modelled and horizontal currents and cathode voltage drops are calculated. The flexibility of the cathode design is increased a lot by use of super pastes. Industrial trials are under way and the result will be reported in future publications. |
