Abstract Scope |
Industrial processes, like waste incineration and refinement, can produce high temperature acid gases. At elevated temperatures (>900°C) there is sparse data available in the literature regarding appropriate structural materials for high temperature environments containing combinations of HCl+SO2 and HF+P2O5. Presently, a materials study has been performed on the response of high Ni-content Cr2O3 and Al2O3 formers to combinations of HCl+SO2 and HF+P2O5 gases in air at temperatures above 1100°C. Additionally, the corrosion resistance of atmospherically plasma sprayed NiCrAlY, YSZ, and Y2O3 coatings were studied. This presentation will discuss the materials study results and associated thermodynamic calculations performed in conjunction with the high temperature corrosion experiments.
