Abstract Scope |
The Cu-Pb-Zn mineral concentrates produced in the processing plants contain high percentages of pyrite, despite the strenuous use of cyanide to depress it. In this research the effect of the concentration of tannimum (TA) C76H52O46 as a depressant, in proportions of 50 to 800 mg/L at pH 6.0, 7.5, 9.0 and in the presence of 100 mg/L of xanthate (X) was evaluated. The experimental results obtained indicate that, despite the presence of xanthate, FeS2 is depressed by TA, the progressive increase of the depressant gradually decreases the flotation of pyrite, 800 mg/L of TA depresses it in a greater proportion, obtaining it in the concentrate. 11.7 % w/w cumulative flotation, the optimal pH for the highest depression was 7.5 and oxidant pulp potentials referred to the standard hydrogen electrode of around + 400 mv, alkaline pH values (9.0) in the presence of xanthate and tannimum not significantly depress pyrite. |
