Abstract Scope |
Current work focused on additive manufacturing of tungsten carbide-10 wt% cobalt material with binder jet method employing pre-mixed powders. The effect of powder morphology on printing characteristics was examined. The green printed samples were subjected to density measurements and visual observations followed by debinding-sintering cycles. Sintering cycles were optimized to produce the material with and without evolution of η phases. Optimal samples with highest density were subjected to hot isostatic pressing for further improvements in the property. The produced samples were subjected to multi-scale microscopy and mechanical evaluation using indentation techniques as well as three-point bend tests. The current work provided insights into the effect of η phases on mechanical response of binder jet additively manufactured cemented tungsten carbide. |
