Abstract Scope The continuous casting process of thin slab steel appears with the objective of reducing costs during subsequent rolling processing, increasing production and quality of semi-finished steel. The manufacturing of this by-product has more challenges to face compared to the conventional method, starting with the high flow rate of liquid steel deposited in a smaller volume mold; This factor produces inconveniences during the development of the fluid dynamics that the SEN inside of the mold. Consequently, an excessively turbulent flow can cause fluctuations in the steel-slag-air interface, opening the slag layer, trapping of non-metallic inclusions and bubbles, for this reason is necessary study the geometry effect of the ports at the exit of the SEN on the fluid dynamics inside the mold considering as a whole the mass balance, boundary layer phenomenon and contact vein; to improve process conditions, this work it´s proposed to do it through mathematical simulation.
