Abstract Scope |
Zeolites are widely used as ion exchangers, molecular sieves and adsorbents. Perlite is a volcanic glass that can be used as a raw material in the synthesis of zeolites, in this research zeolite Na-P1 was synthesized by hydrothermal method. Natural perlite from Zimapán, Hidalgo, Mexico was used and expanded by torch, then characterized by XRF, XRD, FTIR and SEM techniques. In a 20 ml hydrothermal reactor, 1 g of material and 17 ml of Na OH were added and placed in an oven. The effect of NaOH concentration, temperature and residence time was evaluated. High purity Na-P1 zeolite was obtained at 100°C, 2M and 12 hours. |
