Abstract Scope |
Silica has been increasingly studied due to its abundance, diverse employment possibilities and properties, such as high melting point, low density, among others. This article seeks to analyze and evaluate the compression properties of silica in 4 different formulations, with 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% in volume incorporated into the epoxy resin as a dispersed phase, with the aim of improving its mechanical properties to which can contribute to improving the performance of polymer composites according to their use and reduce the use of materials from petroleum. The ASTM D695-23 standard was used to carry out the compression test. The results showed that with incorporation of silica the compression resistance improved showing the potential application for protective coatings. |
