Abstract Scope |
Austenite decomposition in a UHSS Cr-Mo-V steel was analyzed by dilatometry under continuous-controlled cooling conditions. Two transformation types were observed during the decomposition depending on the cooling rate; at low rates, the austenite decomposition occurs in two stages and with increasing rates in a single stage. The phases associated with a low cooling rate were ferrite and pearlite, and the phase associated with increasing the cooling rate was bainite. Based on the dilatometric analysis, the critical temperatures of austenite decomposition were determined, and the continuous cooling transformation diagram was constructed, indicating the field extension of phases. The lever rule in each condition determined the transformation degree to calculate the activation energies with the Kissinger method. Finally, the microstructure was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, relating the Vickers microhardness measurements dependent on the cooling rate, observing an increase as the cooling rate increases. |
