Abstract Scope |
During the alloy oxidation process, local structural and compositional changes on the alloy surface - such as surface segregation, surface reconstruction, and local ordering - can significantly impact the oxidation outcomes. Understanding the complex interplay between multiple oxidizing alloy elements is critical for a fundamental comprehension of alloy oxidation. In this study, we combined atomic-resolution in situ environmental TEM with correlated DFT simulations and machine learning-enhanced data quantification to investigate the local surface structure evolution during the initial stages of Cu-based alloy oxidation. Our findings provide valuable insights for the fundamental understanding of alloy oxidation, which is crucial for corrosion protection and the advanced manufacturing of nano-oxides. |
