Abstract Scope |
A CFD model with coupled estimated HTC was used to simulate the vertical direct chill casting process. The model is helps to understand how changes in casting parameters (such as casting temperature, casting speed, cooling conditions, etc.) during casting affect the final temperature distribution in the casting ingot. it also establishes correlations between these parameters and optimizes the temperature gradient between the high and low melting temperature regions. The Model assumptions were validated experimentally in a DC casting pit for AA6082 Aluminum alloy. |
