Abstract Scope |
Martensite transformation kinetics of an austenitic stainless steel SS304L under proportional biaxial stress paths is investigated using a custom designed cruciform specimen. The experiment is performed in two steps. First, the material is tested under the uniaxial tension in every 15o from the rolling direction and the equibiaxial tension to characterize the elasto-plastic behavior and to measure martensite volume fraction. The experiments are used in the material modeling of Yld2004-18p anisotropic yield function, Hockett-Sherby hardening law, and a phenomenological model for the martensite transformation, which are implemented into User Material Subroutine for Abaqus/Standard. Finite element simulations of the cruciform loading are conducted to determine the displacement boundary conditions of each arm in order to produce proportional stress paths in the central gauge section. The identified displacement paths, which are not linear, are applied in the cruciform experiments and the martensite transformation is investigated in the given stress states. |
