Abstract Scope |
The solubility of rare-earth alkali fluorides is significant in order to design a molten fluoride salt reactor. Even though each rare-earth fluoride illustrates distinguishing characteristics in molten salt environments, cerium fluoride has been one of the main rare-earth elements studied due to being the surrogate of PuF3. In this study, cerium fluoride solubility, and the effect of lanthanum fluoride addition into cerium fluoride dissolved salt were investigated in NaF-BeF2-ZrF4-UF4 in the temperature range of 773K-873K. The solubility behavior of cerium fluoride was compared to the solubility behavior of other rare-earth fluorides in similar molten salt systems. |
