Abstract Scope |
Nano-sized particles have been analyzed by Atom Probe Tomography after embedding particles in solid. However, particles which are vulnerable to water are hard to be encapsulated by previous functional embedding method such as electro-plating. Then new embedding method was needed for moisture vulnerable particles.
In this study, liquid metal is used for embedding perovskite nano-particle and nano-porous Mg powder with carbon nano tube. Liquid metal used for embedding particles have a low melting point and prevent particles from moistural damage without degradation problems. Then perovskite nano-particle and nano-porous Mg with CNT maintain their unique nano-structure and character in liquid metal. Analysis of compositional deviation of perovskite nano-particle and CNT in nano-porous Mg was conducted by APT. After embedding process, Cryo-Focus Ion Beam milling is operated for shaping APT tip. The embedding method using liquid metal is promised for utilizing at 3D APT of highly reactive nano-structure materials including moisture vulnerability. |
