Abstract Scope |
The laser flash technique has emerged as a valuable method for determining the thermal diffusivity (and conductivity) of various molten salts across a broad temperature spectrum. Its non-contact nature, rapid measurement capabilities, and user-friendly operation render it particularly advantageous. In this paper, we delve into the critical factors that contribute to the reliable measurement of thermal diffusivity in molten salt materials. These factors include the laser flash thermal diffusivity measurement system itself, the effectiveness of employed models and analyses, the choice of materials for crucibles and lids, the optimization of crucible and lid design, and thorough sample preparation to minimize bubble formation during testing. Furthermore, we will show the validation of measurements using a reference liquid material and present and discuss measurements conducted on molten salt materials. |
