Abstract Scope |
This study focuses on the development of an oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) version of nickel-based alloys Hastelloy-N using custom made Hastelloy-N powder cryo-milled with Y2O3, Ti, and/or Zr followed by sintering. Microstructural characterization using transmission electron microscopy and Chemi-STEM in complement to Atom Probe Tomography, evidenced the formation of the wanted oxide particle distribution with a number density close to advanced ODS steels for nuclear applications. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the Ni-ODS alloys were characterized including hardness measurements. Dual beam In-situ ion irradiations (He + Kr) in a TEM were done to probe effectiveness of the precipitates at trapping He. |
