Abstract Scope |
The SUNRISE centre in Sweden is focused on research and development in support of the design and licensing of a small lead fast reactor for research, education and demonstration. In this programme we work across several universities at accelerated materials qualification for both structural and fuel materials, through the use of experiments, modelling, process and method development. The programme will be succinctly introduced, as well as the reactor design. The target fuel for the LFR is UN and thus for that aspect, the focus is on accelerating the qualification of the high-performance fuel using an iterative and combined experimental/modelling approach. The fuel clad will be subjected to a very challenging environment and thus composite additive steels are developed and characterised. Dedicated experimental equipment to study flow accelerated erosion-corrosion phenomena have been developed in SUNRISE. This presentation will give an overview of the research programme and focus on recent research highlights. |
