Abstract Scope |
The alloy anode for magnesium battery is expected to bypass the passivation problem and match the simple magnesium electrolyte. However, the huge volume expansion and slow magnesium ion kinetics lead to the rapid decay of electrode capacity. Herein, the electrochemical properties of micron ternary alloy (Bi-Sn-X, X = Sb, In) anodes with varied compositions for magnesium ion batteries (MIBs). Compared with the low capacity and low stability of pure metal anodes (Bi and Sn), the prepared ternary alloy (Bi-Sn-X, X = Sb, In) anodes show high reversible specific capacity. The excellent electrochemical behavior of the ternary alloy anodes benefits from synergistic effects coming from the multi-phase structure. Specifically, the Bi10Sb10Sn80 anode can deliver high capacity as 517 mAh g-1 at 20 mA g-1 and Bi80Sn10In10 shows capacity retention above 98% after 80 cycles. |
