Abstract Scope |
The effect of thermal debinding holding time on microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti–15Nb–5Sn alloy by metal fused filament fabrication (MF3) was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and compression test. Regardless of the different thermal debinding holding time, the microstructures of the solution-treated Ti-15Nb-5Sn consisted of α phase and two types of β phase. The area fraction of β phases increased as increasing thermal debinding holding time. The weight loss ratio of the binder also increased as increasing the holding time. It indicates that the increase in the area fraction of β phases. Although α phase is present after solution treatment, the total recoverable strain was measured above 1.6 %. The recoverable strain increased from 1.6 % to 3.1 % by increasing thermal debinding holding time, which came from the increase in the area fraction of β phase. |
