Abstract Scope |
The Kroll Institute for Extractive Metallurgy has performed graduate research in zinc and lead extractive metallurgy over its history. The paper presents an overview of some of the past and current research on this topic: this includes: galena leaching with fluosilicic acid; recovery of lead and zinc from river bed tailings by ferric chloride leaching; soda ash reduction of galena; characteristics of sodium-iron-silicate slags,; computational fluid dynamic modeling of a secondary lead reverberatory furnace; vacuum distillation of complex lead bullion; hydrogen partial reduction of zinc ferrites; and evaluation of zinc process jarosites, ferrites and leach precipitates for by-product recovery.
