Abstract Scope |
This presentation quantifies how adding 1 wt.% Zr to a Cu-40 wt.% Fe alloy (CFA) affects its microstructure and mechanical properties following deformation and heat treatment. The Zr-modified CFA (ZCFA) develops Fe2Zr and ZrO2 phases that significantly alter grain, dislocation, and recrystallization mechanisms during heat treatment. After annealing at 400 ℃, ZCFA had 121.6 MPa higher yield strength than CFA. Calculations indicated that ZCFA had 33.7 MPa higher grain-boundary strengthening, 31.7 MPa higher precipitation strengthening, and 49.9 MPa higher work hardening than CFA. These estimates deviate by ~ 5% deviation from the experimental outcomes. |
