Abstract Scope |
Department of Defense is interested in looking to manufacture commodities which require high strength. Maraging steel 350 is a high alloy steel with exceptional ultimate tensile strength (minimum 340 ksi ultimate tensile strength). In one study, maraging steel 350 has been proven to be manufactured successfully be laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) on Trumpf Truprint 1000 without cracking. However, the parameters between different L-PBF machines are not directly transferrable because there are variations with the build chamber environment, laser characteristics, and/or laser scan strategy between machines. Therefore, process parameter development is required to optimize material properties for a particular machine. This study focuses on determining material and tensile properties of maraging steel 350 developed on an EOS M290 and comparing results to previous research. |
