Abstract Scope |
Power costs have been growing every year. Energy has been the biggest cost of the electrolysis process. In 2022, ALBRAS registered 33 cell side wall tap outs events in five months and dealt with short amperage reductions to fit energy demands. Over the course of a year of work, operational resistance modifiers were reduced by more than 50% and the Albras average cell voltage reduced 32mV, contributing to positive results in specific energy consumption and providing the environment for amperage increase, with no impact in current efficiency. Standardization of cell noise treatment and in process indicators were carried out. In addition, a new methodology for monitoring cell voltage was developed to support the achievement of results. This paper discusses the voltage per cell reduction with goals, accomplishments and opportunities for the coming years. |
