Abstract Scope |
Over the past decade, advances in micro and nano additive manufacturing (AM) have been partially driven by the development of architected materials often comprised of multiple materials over a range of length scales. These metamaterials have shown remarkable properties as a result of the ability to deterministically create fine structures with exquisite detail in 3D. Processes of note include projection microstereolithography (PuSL), two-photon polymerization (2PP), and direct ink writing (DIW). However, adoption of these concepts into real applications has been limited due to slow write speeds and inability to easily create fine structure with multiple materials. Recently, high-throughput micro and nanoscale AM concepts have been in development as well as some multimaterial methods. These include volumetric AM, ultrafast 2PP, and flow-through techniques to name a few. In this presentation we will review both the key processes and applications developed over the past decade as well as these exciting new directions. |
