Presentation Title Design Considerations for Anode Bake Furnace Refractories
Author(s) Edwin Aalbers
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Edwin Aalbers
Abstract Scope Gouda Refractories delivers complete refractory solutions for anode baking furnaces, pot lines, transfer ladles, melting furnaces and holding furnaces. Refractories play a critical role in primary aluminium production. In anode baking furnaces in particular, refractory performance is a key factor in overall production costs. Baking of anodes represents the most expensive step in the production of anodes for the aluminium industry. Good quality anodes are essential for the performance of the electrolysis cells. Efficient operation of these gas or oil-fired systems is essential for reducing the carbon footprint of Anode Baking Furnaces. Gouda Refractories is one of the leading suppliers of refractory materials for Anode Baking Furnaces. This presentation describes the design parameters, wear mechanisms and the refractory solutions that Gouda Refractories provides to extend the lifetime of Anode Bake Furnace Refractories.
