Abstract Scope |
This presentation covers the development of an Additive Manufacturing Process Specification (AMPS) for laser powder bed fusion of AlSi10Mg. This specification was used in a project to support qualification efforts for a flight critical family of bell crank parts on legacy aircraft. The process specification is holistic and covers powder vendor selection, process parameters (i.e. laser power, layer thickness, hatch spacing, scan speed), post-processing (i.e. stress relief, hot isostatic pressing, precipitation hardening, machining), and non-destructive evaluation. Affordability considerations on process parameter selection will be discussed. Fracture and fatigue coupons were generated on three different types of powder bed fusion machines using a common powder feedstock. Mechanical property data for this defined set of process parameters will be presented here. |
