Abstract Scope |
Sustainable packaging has gained increasing attention due to environmental concerns associated with conventional plastic materials. Polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable polymer derived from renewable resources, has emerged as a promising alternative to petroleum-based plastics. However, PLA's mechanical properties and thermal stability are often inadequate for certain applications. To address these limitations, the incorporation of magnesium (Mg) as a reinforcing agent in PLA-based composites has shown potential. This mini-review focuses on the development of PLA-magnesium composite materials for sustainable packaging solutions. The review discusses the properties of PLA, the role of magnesium in enhancing PLA performance, and the environmental benefits and applications of PLA-Mg composites in packaging. |
