Abstract Scope |
Albras' strategy to increase current efficiency, by changing the metal tapping cycle from 48h to 32h ,generated the need to change the cycle of all tasks carried out within the Potlines with minimum impact on the generation of extra activities in transition period. In addition, it was also necessary to change the anode change pattern from hybrid anode change to double anode change. The strategy known so far required more than 3 months of anode change pattern transition and subsequent change in the task cycle (48h to 32h). The implemented methodology made it possible the immediate transition to the 32h cycle together with the transition of the anode pattern, reducing total transition time from 4 to 2 months and saving 500 anode pieces. This paper discusses transition strategy that was successfully implemented in 4 Albras potlines. |
