Abstract Scope |
This degree project proposes the implementation of the electrowinning process of metallic tin in a basic medium using the by-products of the Harris I process, of the lead refining process at EMK, as raw material.
The characterization of the by-products and the PLS obtained from their treatment, electrochemical tests with the electrolyte obtained to define the optimal operating conditions and economic analysis were carried out; carrying out the process in a system of electrodes in parallel, a basic pH. 99.78% tin recovery was obtained by electrolytic treatment in the tests carried out on a laboratory scale.
It is concluded that it is possible to carry out the electro-winning of metallic tin in the EMK, allowing to increase the production efficiency, cost reduction and minimization of the environmental impact associated with the generation of waste. The results obtained can be implemented on a pilot scale. |
