Meeting 2025 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition
Symposium Bladesmithing 2025
Presentation Title Forging High Entropy Alloys
Author(s) Robert AE Wilkins
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Robert AE Wilkins
Abstract Scope For the longest time, conventional wisdom suggested increased brittleness with increased number of alloying elements. With the recent surge in interest surrounding HEA’s proving otherwise, forging a working tool/blade is possible. Drawing off past hands-on experience, the ability to effectively cold draw an Fe-based HEA, we are looking at exploring the effects of forging and HEA. Specifically, how does the microstructure change throughout and do any properties significantly change due to the forging process.
