Abstract Scope |
A lot of research has been done on the dissolution of alumina during the steelmaking slags. In particular, CSLM can be said to be representative of the in situ method of dissolving alumina into slag. Single Hot Thermocouple technique (SHTT) is a very useful method because it is relatively inexpensive, easy to handle samples, and can study the reaction mechanism through rapid cooling. In this study, experiments were conducted while changing composition of alumina and FexO in steelmaking slag using the SHTT. During the experiment, a phenomenon in which alumina particles were dissolved while rotating was observed which may indicate that the dissolution reaction should consider the Peclet behavior rather than being interpreted by the Fick's law. When the FeO content in the slag was 30% or more, it was found that an intermediate layer was formed to slow down the reaction rate, and it was identified through TEM analysis. |
