Abstract Scope |
In this study, the effect of beam mode on the microstructure and mechanical properties of tailor-welded blanks ARM laser welded joints were comparatively analyzed with Al-Si coated 22MnB5. This study demonstrates that the weld properties can be controlled by using the effect of ARM laser without using the method of removing the Al-Si coating. Without removing the Al-Si coating, ARM laser welding of 22MnB5 steel is adopted in this study to investigate the effect of ring beam on reducing the segregation of Al element in FZ and improving mechanical properties of welded joints. In center mode with high ferrite fractions, the average UTS was about 989 MPa, which was 65% of the BM (1496 MPa). In ring and dual beam mode, the average UTS was more than 80% higher than that of the BM. The relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties was further clarified via the XRD and EBSD analysis. |
