Abstract Scope |
The paradigm shift from the convectional materials to the development of new and emerging materials has brought about great revolution in the field Materials’ Technology. This study characterized the srructural properties of TiO2, WO3, ZnO and SnO2 for the development of modified Zn-TiO2 nano-composite coatings on low carbon steel. This was with a view to produce a smart coating materials for optoelectronic and corrosion applications in the oil and gas industries. The nano-powders were characterized with X-ray Diffractometer to determine the crystal and structural information of the materials. The results revealed unique crystalline materials, the average particle sizes obtained were: TiO2; 40.5 nm, WO3; 69.4 nm, SnO2; 32.8 nm and ZnO; 71.12 nm. The study concluded that the nanomaterials exhibited functional characteristic with potential application in corrosion sensor in the oil and gas industries under light and dark conditions, thus an enhanced sensor’s material. |
