Abstract Scope |
IN600 is a widely used material in high-temperature applications. Shaping this alloy needs thermomechanical processing to obtain optimum microstructure and property before being brought for industrial application. Accurate simulation of deformation parameters and their history is essential to predict material behaviour and optimize the production parameters. Additionally, understanding the microstructural evolution during hot deformation provides valuable insight into the mechanical properties of the final product. The finite element simulations using DEFORM-3D revealed inhomogeneous material flow in different zones, resulting in significant variations in deformation parameters, and microstructural analysis (EBSD) reveals different grain size and recrystallization fractions across the specimen.
The findings of this study significantly contribute to our understanding of the impact of hot forging on microstructural evolution and enable the optimization of the production process, resulting in upgraded product quality. |
