Abstract Scope |
China is the largest producer and consumer of steel products. The steel production process maintains high consumption level of natural resources and fossil fuels, as well as generates extensive pollutants and carbon emissions. The energy conservation and carbon reduction have become a pressing need for iron and steel industry (ISI). Although considerable efforts, such as technological innovation, process optimization, intelligent control, and clean energy utilization, have been devoted to cope with these unfavorable situations. There are also some problems in the implementation and practical application of the corresponding technologies. In this paper, the policies and laws for promoting low-carbon and green development in China's ISI are detailly reviewed and discussed. The influence of these mandatory legal provisions and policy norms on the ISI development and transformation is further studied. This research is expected to standardize and implement the green, low-carbon, and sustainable ISI development at the legal and policy levels. |
